The science of human behavior is the foundation of all behavior support systems. A clear understanding of why humans behave the way they do is essential to quality system implementation. A lack of knowledge in this area may lead staff to poor implementation or misuse of behavior tools and interventions. The Science of Behavior training (full day or half day option) is designed to assist staff in understanding the most effective tools for implementing behavior systems that lead to positive change and build skills for all students. Ground Work Tier 1 training provides campuses with a solid foundation upon which to build the rest of their behavior supports. Ground Work proactively addresses behavior needs therefore preserving valuable instructional time for academic content.


  • A full day or half day of training for all campus staff in the science of human behavior.
  • Topics include; understanding and instructional approach, operationally defining behavior, reinforcement & punishment, applications of reinforcement, functions of behavior, and the behavior pathway.
  • Participants will engage in discussion and application of each concept w/in the educational setting and their specific campus role.
