BORN IN THE CLASSROOM. BUILT FOR SCHOOLS.

Emergent Tree started with teachers who experienced firsthand how behavior can impact teachers. Lasting behavior change goes beyond consequences and rewards. Today, we partner with districts to teach behavior like any other subject– clearly, equitably, and sustainably.

OUR STORY BEGINS AND ENDS IN THE CLASSROOM

Stacy Morgan and Mae Coffman met as high school teachers more than a decade ago when they were working with at-risk students who displayed clear social-emotional-behavioral needs. They responded, as so many teachers do, with empathy, mentorship, and personal interaction that can often only be achieved in the classroom.

The lessons they learned formed the foundation for Emergent Tree's approach to behavioral instruction. What they needed-and what schools everywhere need-was a different approach. An instructional approach that treats behavior like academics: set clear expectations, teach skills explicitly, provide guided practice, and offer feedback along the way.

Every member of Emergent Tree's team knows what it's like to be an educator. We've walked the same hallways, faced the same challenges, and felt the same exhaustion. We know the toll it takes when systems don't support staff and students. And we know the hope that comes when districts shift from reaction to instruction.

That's why we exist: to help schools stop spinning their wheels with fragmented strategies and start building systems that are proactive, equitable, and sustainable.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT BEHAVIOR SUPPORT

Every school deserves systems that are clear, proactive, and sustainable. Every student deserves a classroom with clear expectation that supports learning.  And every education deserves tools that work in the real world, not just in theory.

These Beliefs Guide
Everything WE Do:

Build Capacity That Lasts
Don't settle for one-off fixes. Create scalable systems and equip staff so the work continues long after coaching ends to sustain progress through turnover and change.

Center On Consistency
Develop a behavior framework that’s clear, accessible, and designed to support every student.

Teach Behavior Like You Teach Academics
Treat behavior as a skill to develop, not just a moment to praise and punish. Give students explicit instruction, practice, and feedback to build lifelong tools.

Let Technology Strengthen The Work
Use data and tools that clarify, not complicate. Streamline progress monitoring and decision-making so educators can focus on students.

Design Systems Not Silos
Stop patching problems in isolation. Align Tier 1, 2, and 3 supports into one coherent structure that works district-wide.

Trust Teachers Perspective
Every classroom and campus has unique needs. Ground your approach in research-based practices shaped by teacher voice and experience.
